Task

The Task: Policy Briefing on AI Regulation

Your team's mission is to create a compelling digital policy briefing (e.g., an interactive presentation, a short documentary-style video, or a dynamic webpage) that addresses the central question: Should AI be strictly regulated due to its ethical risks?

This briefing should:

  • Clearly outline the major ethical risks associated with AI.
  • Present arguments both for and against strict regulation.
  • Analyse potential regulatory approaches (e.g., international treaties, national laws, industry self-regulation).
  • Conclude with your team's well-justified recommendation on the appropriate level and type of AI regulation.
  • Be presented in clear, accurate, and sophisticated English (C1 level).

Collaborative Roles:

To ensure a balanced workload and diverse perspectives, assign these roles within your team (you can adapt these based on team size):

🕵️ Lead Researcher

Focuses on gathering and analysing information from the provided resources and beyond. Identifies key ethical risks, arguments for/against regulation, and different regulatory models. Ensures source credibility and proper citation.

🎨 Digital Designer

Leads the creation of the final digital product (presentation, video, webpage). Focuses on visual appeal, clarity, user experience, and effective integration of text, images, and potentially multimedia elements. Ensures the final product is polished and professional.

✍️ Content Strategist/Writer

Oversees the narrative structure and written content of the briefing. Synthesises research findings into clear, concise, and persuasive English. Ensures logical flow, consistent tone, and accurate language use (grammar, vocabulary, C1 level appropriateness).

Success Criteria:

Your final product will be evaluated based on:

  • Depth of ethical analysis and understanding of the core issues.
  • Clarity and persuasiveness of arguments presented.
  • Effective collaboration and contribution from all team members.
  • Quality, creativity, and professionalism of the digital format.
  • Accurate citation of all sources using APA style.

Refer to the detailed rubric in the 'Evaluation' tab.
